Reinickendorf

Reinickendorf is part of the Berlin Edition, a photographic series documenting the everyday character of Berlin’s neighbourhoods.

Here, rows of brightly coloured waste containers stand in front of a residential complex, while the evening light turns the surrounding buildings warm and almost cinematic. The ordinary becomes visually striking through colour, repetition and atmosphere.

There is no attempt to beautify the scene. Instead, the photograph finds a particular Berlin quality in the contrast between functional residential architecture, everyday objects and unexpected moments of colour.
