Mitte

Mitte is part of the Berlin Edition, a photographic series capturing Berlin’s neighbourhoods as they are — without staging, polish or spectacle.

The photograph observes the everyday architecture of Mitte: apartment buildings, balconies, trees and the quiet movement of the city. Birds gathered along the overhead wires add an almost incidental rhythm to the urban scene, while the architecture remains deliberately ordinary.

Rather than looking for Berlin’s iconic landmarks, the image focuses on the atmosphere of a city that is constantly changing while still carrying traces of its everyday life.
