Over the decades, she became one of Europe’s most successful agents, building international networks between Berlin, Los Angeles, and Asia, negotiating contracts, developing careers, and guiding filmmakers on their journeys.

Her daily life consisted of meetings, productions, negotiations, and constant movement. Business trips took her time and again to Italy, France, England, Los Angeles, and many other places around the world. Often, with five meetings a day, there was barely time to catch her breath.

But it was precisely in these small moments in between that she began to truly perceive the world.

The colors of a sunset in Palermo. Palm trees in the warm evening light of Los Angeles. The rugged nature of Big Sur. People in street cafés. Botanical gardens. Plants making their way through concrete. The special atmosphere of a place that cannot be explained, only felt.

She carried these memories with her for years.

Since her artistic heart never stopped beating, she finally made the decision to leave parts of her agency work behind in order to devote herself intensively to her art again, alongside the development of feature film scripts.

Through House of Zuuma, Esther shares original paintings and selected editions from her Berlin studio while continuing her work in the world of film.

During the day, she continues to negotiate film contracts and develop new projects. At night, she paints—which is why we now call her The Night Painter.

Her works emerge from precisely these memories: from travels, encounters, atmospheric lighting, and those rare moments between work and movement when you can truly feel the pulse of a city.

The painting Palm Noir, for example, was inspired by memories of a research trip to Sicily for the Mother’s Milk series we developed.

With her botanical, colorful, and often cinematic paintings, Esther aims to convey precisely this feeling: the sensation of stepping out of everyday life for a moment.

Her paintings are not meant to simply decorate spaces, but to transform them. They bring warmth, color, nature, and atmosphere into homes—like small windows into other worlds. A reminder that beyond appointments, routines, and screens, there is still beauty, freedom, and imagination.

Anyone who looks at one of her works should not just see a picture, but for a moment feel what Esther felt on her travels: longing, tranquility, wanderlust, and the magic of a special moment.

Through House of Zuuma, Esther shares original paintings and selected editions from her Berlin studio while continuing her work in the world of film.

Proportions: I’m Christopher, 1.91 m tall, and the painting measures 80 × 120 cm.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1015/9220/3612/files/MidnightPods_aeb49102-85f6-4bc8-9b26-b7025cafafcc.jpg?v=1779380789
